Fionn
‘We had so much fun – at the beach”,
said Fionn:
“It was ‘sandy-toes’ time and I was the ‘Sandy-Toes King’.
King of the Sandy Toes,
Hopping over a salty log
I crept round Fluff, a stray-beach dog.
And when I caught a purple fly
my Castle was safe
from the insect sky.
And, we bought fish and chips”:
said Fionn:
“That, was at ‘yummy grub’ time and I was the ‘Yummy Grub King’.
King of the Yummy Grubbers,
Melting ice-cream on chips and peas,
I shrunk and pulled my stringy cheese.
And when I smiled and winked and wished,
my Daddy served me
his nice oily fish.
But, then it was ‘snidely, red nose’ time and I was the ‘Snidely, Red Nose King’.
King of the Snidely, Red-Noser’s”,
said Fionn:
Snideling, too hot, maybe too cold,
I hid my feet in sands of gold.
And when I felt a slinky tear,
I followed my tongue
to my salty ear.
And, when it was ‘tumble’ time, I was the ‘Tumble King’.
King of the ‘Tumblers”,
said Fionn:
Climbing, tumbling, dunes in the sun,
I lost my hat and Cillian’s bun.
But, when I pulled a sleepy slab
I captured my hat
from a creepy crab.
Then, we had even more great fun – at home”,
Said Fionn:
“It was ‘splishy-splosh’ time and I was the ‘Splishy Splosh King’.
King of the Splishy Sploshers”,
Blowing bubbles like floating stars,
I squished my toes for hours and hours.
And when I blew my sparkling crown,
my Mummy blew back
her wet soapy frown.
And then, it was ‘story teller time’ and I was the ‘Story Teller King’.
King of the Story Tellers”,
said Fionn:
“Reading, telling, with wee tired eye
I flew my pony in the sky.
And when I clapped my Scottish hands,
what flew toward me?
Ten marching Pipe-Bands!
It was ‘dream-time’ and I was the ‘Dream King’.
King of the Dreamers”,
said Fionn:
“Dreaming, waking, just after dawn
I yawned and stretched, and dressed Fionn.
But, when I clapped the morning larks,
who woke in my bed? –
And whined and barked”?
“Woof – I was in the Park, Fionn!”,
Fluff said’.
